Week 14 of TEN OF THE BEST comes around and I was about to bring another specialist playlist, until I started compiling the playlist and somehow it morphed into another mixed bag. No complaints from me. Without further ado, let’s get to business!!!
Check out the spotify playlist at the bottom of this post:
This week’s playlist, in no particular order:
No Wahala – Demarco X Akon X Runtown
So Demarco jumped on the Afropop bandwagon haha. I don’t blame him though because the sound is irresistible without a doubt. What cracks me up the most though is how he is emulating the Naija style of delivery, which kinda vindicates peeps that have tried to emulate the Jamaican style for ages, the world is a cycle huh?! Akon and Runtown do their thing on this tune too, definitely one that will be running dancefloors real soon.
Father Protect Me – Keznamdi
Vibes, pure unadulterated VIBES. Keznamdi is such an underrated artist and I am interested in seeing how long people continue sleeping on this artist. Kez has some wicked lyrics, and his delivery is undeniably good. Keep an eye on this man.
Save Your Love – Jah Cure
Jah Cure comes through with a big tune on Obsession riddim. The riddim is killer, you may remember that I included Mavado’s version in week 10, and Cure took the riddim to a whole different level. Big riddim, bid tune. Heads up, this may be the first riddim to make 2 entries in the same week ;P
YimMasGan – Third World
Big tune from Third World. Haven’t heard any new music from the band in a while and this tune just took me by surprise. Big tune mi seh!!!
Hey Baby (One Drop Remix) – Stephen Marley X Mos Def
Vibes overload on this tune. The energy is just electric, and you know both artists are legends who didn’t hold back on this song. It is a relick of the tune they released back in the day, but it feels rather fresh.
Thiago Silva – Dave X AJ Tracey
Feels like I haven’t had a decent grime tune on this playlist in a minute. This tune has so much bounce I actually can’t sit still as I’m writing this. Replay value is really high on this tune. Play it on repeat, and catch vibes all day.
Yakuza – Fally Ipupa X Wizkid
Damn, Wizkid makes the playlist again and rightly so. On this tune he supports the Congolse superstar Fally Ipupa, and both artists hold their own on this club banger. Pull up my selector!!!
Legend – Chronixx
Another artist that seems to keep making the playlist is Chronixx, and rightly so. This tune is just amazing, nuff said.
Modern Day Slavery – Spring Wata
Big tune from one like Spring Wata on the very big Nana-Gel riddim. Enough big cuts on the riddim but this tune definitely caught my attention from the word go. Check the riddim though, so many good tunes.
Heaven Cry – Tommy Lee Sparta
So I did mention that Obsession riddim was going to make a double entry and here I am making good on the promise. Now I know that Tommy Lee is quite controversial given his usual content, but on this tune he comes through with a big big tune. I can see a few people repeating this tune and singing along in no time.
Hope this playlist gets the number of plays it deserves. Until next week
